Birthday Weekend

This year, Ryder didn't get just one birthday day, he got a whole birthday weekend! It started on Saturday with his Curious George birthday day party. We decided to celebrate his birthday as a family on Sunday, the day before his actual birthday, because Seth had to work on Monday. Ryder woke up to a few gifts from us on the kitchen table, followed by a donut cake and more candles to blow out! We played with his new toys for a while before heading out for lunch at Ryder's favorite place, Panera! After lunch we took Ryder to a local pet supply store to pick out his very first fish. He repeated the entire ride there that he wanted a blue fish and that is exactly what he chose. A blue Betta to be exact! After a nice long nap, we spent the rest of the evening relaxing at home and playing with all of Ryder's birthday gifts, especially his new trampoline.

Yesterday we spent Ryder's actual birthday at the zoo with my parents. It is one of Ryder's favorite places to be and it was a beautiful day for the zoo, mostly cloudy and warm! Ryder's only request was to ride the train a hundred times, but unfortunately one of the trains got stuck so we had to walk around and actually visit some of the animals. ;)

The highlight of the trip was when the mother elephant pushed her baby into the pond right in front of us! I got splashed while they swam and played. I mean, they were close enough to touch! It was so much fun to watch.

Now we are home today and definitely feeling the effects of our long and busy weekend. Cheers to bottomless coffee and lots of new toys and Daniel Tiger episodes on repeat!
