We are getting into the holiday spirit this week with star-shaped everything, reds, whites, and blues, sparklers, poppers, and lots of summertime activities. Last year Ryder wasn't really old enough to interact with all of the fun but this year we are holding nothing back! He really isn't a fan of the sparklers. He knows that fire is hot and that it's not fun to get burned. So he oohs and ahhs for a couple seconds then moves on to bigger and better things. Like poppers! You know those little white paper things that you drop on the ground and they explode? Well they are littering our entire sidewalk. Of course it would help if I could open the dang bag without them all flying to the ground at once. At least Ryder thought it was funny.
We haven't decided if we will play it low key on Saturday or if we will have a party all day. If we decide to party, I'm thinking of cheeseburger sliders for lunch with homemade firecracker popsicles sounds perfect. Maybe add some grilled sweet corn and watermelon. But I do know that Ryder will be wearing this #US tank by Penny + Tillie. It is absolutely perfect for the 4th of July!
